RJMS Updates and Plans

Dear RJMS families,

Here are a few updates and plans since we learned that school will be closed for the rest of the academic year.  We will miss our kids and are saddened by this news.  However, we will maintain our online learning program and are encouraged by the rate of engagement and quality of work that we are receiving from students.  Our teachers have been doing such a great job providing engaging learning opportunities for our kids during this tough situation and finding unique ways to stay connected with our kids.

Grading in Infinite Campus and Parent Portal:

  • Teacher have been grading assignments in Google Classroom, but we understand that it can be difficult for parents to have to look in several places for this information.
  • Beginning Monday 5/11, teachers will start entering in Q4 assignments into Infinite Campus, so you should start receiving notifications from Parent Portal again.
  • Assignments will be posted in Infinite Campus as C-Complete, I- Incomplete, or M-Missing.  Additional information can still be found by looking at Google Classroom.
  • No final exams will be given this spring.
  • We will not be mailing 35-week progress reports, please use parent portal to see your child's progress.

Awards Night:

  • We are excited to announce that we will still hold our MS Awards Night- Planning for Tuesday, May 26th (rain date the 27th) from 6:30-7:30pm
  • Parents will be invited to drive through the ES/MS bus loop with teachers standing on the sidewalk to cheer students on, Mrs, Hall will hand awards to the students through their car windows.
  • Students who have earned awards will be invited to attend the ceremony, watch the mail for your invite!
  • Awards are based on core course grades from the first 3 quarters, student must have maintained the level each of the 3 quarters to earn an award (Merit 85%-89.9%, Honor 90%-94.9%, and High Honor 95-100%).  Special area teachers select 3 students per grade level for their class as an "excellence" award.  This year, we will also be honoring the students who have done an exceptional job with learning from home.

Locker Clean Out:

  • We are going to offer locker clean out day(s) for kids on Friday May 29th and Saturday May 30th.
  • Students will be invited in one-hour blocks in groups (every 6th locker) and will be encouraging students to wear masks if they have them while in the building.
  • You and your child will receive an email with your specific time slots, but if you need to come in before May 29th or at another time, please email me and we can offer some flexible time frames.

Please let me know if you have any questions,

Karen Hall, RJMS Principal
